Tons of site owners will let their domain expire for one reason or the other. And all of these are up for grabs. People buy them because they like the domain, they’ve been eyeing it for a while now, some buy it for link building, and others flip it.
The concept of flipping is simple: you buy something at a cheap price, and then sell it for a higher one. Sometimes people just set a high price and sell it. But there are others that take the time to improve on the site a bit to ensure that people will purchase it for the set price.
You can always sell your domains on your own; post it on your site, or social media page, or in a forum, you’re known at. But nothing beats selling it at notable domain marketplaces.

Additional Tips
Get the .com domains. Not all of them rank high but that means it’s not that expensive and you’ll have the chance to flip it.
You can add value to your domains before selling them by generating traffic, getting quality backlinks, and brand upgrading.
Don’t sell right away. Take the time to do research and make sure you’re selling your domains at the right price.
Get a “For Sale” message on your site’s home page.
Putting up a fixed price encourages sales better than asking buyers to make an offer.
Add a “For Sale” message on your WHOIS information, and remove your WHOIS privacy service.
Use “charm pricing”, aka adding a “99” or “98”, to increase the chances of landing a sale.
Potential Results
Some domains hold such value that it takes no effort and time at all to get them back to the marketplace to be sold. But there are some that need preparation and proper marketing to make a sale that your income can range anywhere from $500 to $10, 000 depending on the type of the domain you’re lucky enough to have and the work that you put into selling them.
